Deciding whether or not to do the Disney College Program means sacrificing a few things. However, the sacrifice is a small price to pay because of the experiences gained from being a Disney Inter.
You do not have to know anything about Disney World or Disneyland to joing the Disney College Program. You will be trained when you get there. You will start with a class called “Traditions” a class about the history of the Disney company.
If you have heard of the Disney College Program you may have heard about their housing complexes. Specifically you may have heard of Vista Way. Vista Way is the infamous DCP housing complex that has a repuatation for being the place to party. Many call it “Vista Lay” and has been said to be the number 2 place in the country to get laid. It is also the oldest of the four complexes so that combined with it’s reputation makes it the odd complex out.
In case you wanted more proof of the Vista Way’s reputation…
Here is a picture of basically every apartment in Vista Way. Everyone who has been on the Disney College Program has found memories of these couches. If these couches could talk they would probably need some serious therapy.
As mentioned previously, Vista Way has a reputation for wild parties. The party at Vista Way doesn’t really ever stop if you know where to look. Up until a few years ago Vista Way had two hot tubs. The hot tubs have since been cemented over much like nuclear waste. Disney said they closed them down due to maintenance issues which partially true but we all know those hot tubs were were down due to the frequency it was used by CPs for sexual activities. When the hot tubs were still in use many did not dare to use them because of it’s reputation.
You wont hear too much about what actually goes on at Vista Way because most don’t talk about it openly on social media. Either out of fear of Disney seeing it and then not having a chance at being rehired or just because it’s not really something you want most of your friends and family knowing about. These stories are not the majority but you will hear about them or if you like to party hard you might be part of them.
SIDE NOTE: One reason this site exists if so that stories CPs can tell their true stories without fear. You are allowed to use an alias to post your stories so others might enjoy the and nothing will get back to you.
While it is a paid internship, the pay is not very much and sometimes you don’t get a lot of hours. That combined with minimum wage makes it tough trying to balance having fun with budgeting your money. Sure you get into parks for free but then you want food and souvenirs!
Being on the Disney College Program has it’s perks. One of those perks is guest passes and the ability to get your friends and family in for free from time to time. Be ready for your “friends” on Facebook who you haven’t talked to in years to come out of nowhere to see if they can get passes out of you.
Housing is full of wildlife. On your first day you will have a housing meeting and in that meeting they specifically tell you not to feed the wildlife. There are groups of wild cats that wander around housing. They are pretty friendly and will come right up to you. You try and not feed them.
You will get asked all kinds of questions as a CP, mostly “Where is the bathroom?” A lot of the questions will be obvious or stupid ones like “What time is the 3 o’clock parade?” or while standing in front of a sign that has the answer to the question that a guest will ask you.
As a CP you will call every little girl or boy “Princess” or “Prince” just be careful, sometimes little boys with long hair might look like a girl and you’ll call them princess. It happens.
Once you become a CP you’ll be excited about anything that has to do with the Disney College Program. It makes it easier for people who want to get you gifts in the future.
Every Cast Member at Disney World has a nametag. You must have a nametag to go onstage in costume as a Cast Member at Disney World. If you forget or lose your nametag they have loaner nametags that are mostly “Chris” from Orlando. So if you come across someone with that name and location there is a chance that is not there real name.
You will forever point with two fingers after your DCP.
You will not be able to resist talking about Disney and your experiences and your friends and family will always try to tell you things they think you don’t know about Disney.
The hardest part about the Disney College Program is that is has to end.
The amount of amazing experiences you’ll collect in the short time of one term of the Disney College Program is countless. You’ll be able to relate to just about any story with an experience from your program.
After doing the Disney College Program you may find it impossible to stop thinking about it. Everything Disney reminds you of your program. It can be a hard adjustment going from such an unreal experience to going back to reality but one thing is for sure, the memories you make will last a lifetime and have a profound impact on the rest of your life.
